The Centre for Greek and International History (KEDIS) is an academic institute located in Corinth operating at the Department of Political Science and International Relations and the School of Social and Political Sciences of the University of the Peloponnese.
Objective
The academic objective of KEDIS is to offer research and education and raise awareness about Greek and International Modern and Contemporary history. Covering a wide range of topics from Greek and European history, history of European integration, Balkan history, Cold War, Greek foreign policy, transatlantic relations, the Centre underlines the interaction between the local, national and international level and promotes interdisciplinary approaches.
Mission
The mission of KEDIS is to produce reliable academic knowledge and know-how on Greek and International History as well as analyze the impact of recent history on contemporary decision making and problem solving. The Centre’s focus on inter-disciplinarity is matched by the promotion of a continuous dialogue between academic research, education and society. Greek history is examined as part of the international historical context in each era, a method that prevents self-centered interpretations. The interaction between the local and international level helps understand Greece’s role in modern history as well as the impact of broader international change on national developments. KEDIS’s work also aims to help bridge the gap between professional and public history which often magnifies bias and enables selective historical analyses to shape public memory and collective identities. The Centre encourages freedom of research, academic pluralism, solid documentation and intellectual innovation. The study of modern history provides a tool of theoretical analysis especially for young researchers who are faced with the complex challenge of rapid international change and global competitiveness that requires a deep understanding of national and international history, communication and empathy.
Cooperation network
KEDIS develops its activities through a broad network of Greek and International academic institutes, think tanks, organizations, educational and cultural centers, public and private archives, publishing houses and mass media.
Academic team
KEDIS works with distinguished professors and researchers, young academics and practical trainees specialized on history, political science, international relations and relevant fields of study. The emphasis on the promotion of academic innovation and documentation aims to enhance independent historiography, international academic exchanges and participation of young researchers in international academic projects.
Director
KEDIS’s Director is Konstantina E. Botsiou, Associate Professor of Modern History and International Politics at the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the University of the Peloponnese.
Education - Research - Publications
To promote research and interaction between academia and society, KEDIS organizes lectures, conferences, seminars, workshops, simulations, practical training, educational visits, historical documentaries and interviews in its fields of study. The publication program includes books, edited volumes, conference proceedings, policy papers, articles in academic journals, archival presentations in both conventional and electronic form. Academic research is based on research projects, individual and team research assignments, archival and bibliographical studies. Additionally, KEDIS offers academic consultation to private and pubic organizations through special studies and cooperation in research projects.

The financial sources of KEDIS include:
• research projects
• academic and consulting services
• inheritances, donations, concessions and any other type of financial support from natural persons or legal entities from Greece and abroad that are specifically provided for KEDIS and generally for the academic institutes of the University of the Peloponnese
• special financial contributions from Greek and international organizations, public and private entities and natural persons or legal entities
• operation of postgraduate programs and doctoral programs of the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the University of the Peloponnese
• organization of lifelong education, special schools (e.g. summer schools) and other relevant initiatives
• any other legal source
The financial administration is provided by the Special Account of Funds and Research (ELKE) of the University of the Peloponnese.

KEDIS is located in Corinth at the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the University of the Peloponnese.
KEDIS’s activities are developed both in Corinth as well as in other locations in Greece and aboard.
